Ok, who is the wise guy that bet Calhoun he couldn't announce an entire basketball game with a tube sock stuffed in his mouth? Whoever it was......sorry that you lost.

Dang, that was brutal, A two hour run-on sentence in some unknown language.

I'll take the win tho. Boiler up!

I thought he did ok. A little folksy and old school, but I kind of liked it.

There are a lot of things in basketball you can't control, but you can control your effort.

Wasn't a big fan, found myself cranking up the volume trying to figure out what they were talking about. I will say though, that what I did hear I liked. Problem was trying to understand what Calhoun was saying.
Having quite a few relatives who live east I'm kind of familiar with the accent and even I got a laugh out of the tube sock line. He is very difficult to understand.

I must be in the minority... I really like JC and RD calling the game. I get so tired of hearing Dick Vitale and all the other talking heads.

Thank you. I thought I was the only one. He was a great coach, I value his opinion about the game.

My problem was they weren't actually calling the game! For most of the first have, they were off on tangents rambling about God know what.

I didn't mind Calhoun. Thought he was fine. A couple tangents here and there but overall I thought he gave good insight and made solid points.

They were 3746373846x better than the two that called the MICH game. Those two were absolute garbage.

I will agree to that. The analyst for that game is about as fine an extemporaneous speaker as his brother-in-law.

Calhoun never played Big Dog at Mackey Arena. UCONN played us in the early part of the 1988-1989 season at Mackey when I was a freshman. Big Dog arrived my senior year and sat out his freshman year due to being a Prop 48 casualty. Purdue won that game against UCONN.

As Boors and Bernstein say on the Score (AM 670) in Chicago, "Jim Calhoun - who you crapping!"

We're you only listening to the game and not watching it??? It was TELEVISED. I don't need a constant radio-like replay if I'm watching the game. Calhoun was knowledgeable and didn't get in the way of the game which is exactly what an analyst should do. If everyone is so regionally dialect oriented that they couldn't understand what an east coast guy was saying then maybe we shouldn't be on national TV but only on BTN where we get local "talents" that can be understood in the midwest.

I don't know if it had anything to do with the announcers, but it seemed like the announcers volume was a lot higher than the crowd noise last night - more so than usual.

As for Calhoun, he rambled a bit, but he also made a lot of very sound basketball points. Obviously he has his downsides, but he's still a very bright basketball mind.

Like….when he pointed out AJ shouldn't be shooting fadeaways because he's the the tallest guy on the court. Or how effective it is when Purdue plays the inside/out game (which has been lacking until more recently).

I don't think Rece Davis is a good combo for him - he needs to be with a more "no-nonsense" play-by-play guy as Rece almost promotes some of the rambling himself.

Was like Chinese water torture........but effective.

Ha Ha....
