AND HE'S PICKING LITTLE ROCK

I dunno, I sorta agree with him. The premise of the article is which game is a good candidate for a 12-5 upset. Which would you choose? We've had long stretches of poor shooting. If one of those stretches occurs, a good defense/slow tempo team is one that would be hard to come back on. It'd be a HUGE upset if it were to happen, as Purdue is much better than a 5 seed. What other 12-5 matchup is more likely? It's interesting that of the other 5/12 matchups, 3 ( Maryland/SDSU; Indiana/Chatanooga; Purdue/UALR) all have a Big Ten school. The other match is Baylor/Yale. In my opinion, the Indiana/Chat is equally likely for the same reason, cold shooting would be hard to recover from for them.

Yale +5
UALR +9
SDSt +10
Chatt +12

Normally I would be hesitant to predict a first round win in a case like this. But I look at how this team had been playing since the loss at IU and I see the team we were all hoping for in January.

There is no way we lose in the first round. It's not gonna happen.

I agree and have already stated, Purdue will blow the doors off of UALR. It's a laugher. Also, look for there to be major upsets in Denver. Purdue is safe all the way through. Matt is smiling right now you can be sure :) Painter is calm, Clapp-i-Tan is nervous, Mike Brey is ecstatic, & now we just wait.

Actually....not saying they will beat IU (only hoping) but Chattanooga is not a good match up for the Hoosiers....

Get them down, step on their throat, break their will. Game over.
Just like the IL game in the B10 tourney. I expect a similar outcome.

Jay Williams predicted UALR over Purdue on Mike & Mike this morning.

Just add them to Baylor, Siena, Saint Peter's...

Looking at the matchups, I think Purdue will be fairly safe from an upset to AL-R, given that they play anywhere close to their average. We are most vulnerable in a helter-skelter play that prevents us from setting our defense. If L-R runs a slow down set offense, I think that plays to our strength. Although I recall that Princeton style offense giving Keady trouble, I don't think these guys run that sort of play.

L-R on defense must stop the ball while it is coming up coourt. Once Purdue gets into their half court, it's all over. We will win the rebound margin easily. The only question is the 3-pt shooting of L-R. Can they shoot enough to off set the inside scoring plays of Purdue? I don't think they will get enough open looks to allow their 3-pt shooting to be a difference maker.

Iowa State is a different story. They are the kind of team that has given us problems in the past. They are statistically and seed-wise a better team than Purdue, so we will need to bring our A-game to win the second round.

Bleacher Report has us winning it all! And beating the Hoosiers in the semifinals...

I also saw one of the sites did a coin flip bracket, and it had us, Duke, and Maryland all in the FF.

I think if this team full-court presses the entire game, and they swarm the middle and force our bigs into turnovers, and we shoot 5-23 from three, then we could very well lose today. That is a lot of ifs, though, and I do think we win. But to not take a 29-4 team with athleticism seriously is kind of naive.

Full court pressing the entire game at altitude will have their players exhausted in the second half. Purdue already has a depth advantage so I can't see them trying that strategy. They'll press for stretches but the altitude is no trivial thing, it does make a significant difference with stamina.

Little Rock is actually a deep team. Granted, their depth may not be considered great depth against a major-conference school, but they aren't your typical smaller school team that just has a few good players. They play a deep rotation.

"First the facts: The Boilermakers finished 12-6 (3rd) in the Big Ten, which was the fifth best conference (out of 32) this season"

That someone predicted an upset doesn't bother me. Everyone makes crazy predictions, because there are going to be crazy upsets, so basically, people are trying to guess which one it will be. This guy just picked the upset to be over Purdue. But he does show a lack of understanding of NCAA history picking against Purdue in the 1st round.

What bothers me is the quote at the top. The fifth best.... really? Where does this come from?? Obviously, it's assumed to be true; just look at our seedings. But how can people think this? We've won the Big Ten ACC challenge, at least, two years in a row, but everyone assumes the ACC is better than the Big Ten. Who else? The Big 12. They're terrible; so terrible that Kansas just won the season conference title for the 12th year in the row. Kansas wouldn't win the Big Ten, at most, 3 or 4 times in 12 years. If a team can win your conference 12 years in a row, the rest of the programs in that conference must stink. What are the other three conferences? The PAC 12 or whatever is a joke. On neutral courts the Big Ten would beat the PAC whatever in, at least,10 of 14 games. With the SEC, it would even more obvious. What other conference is supposed to be better than the Big Ten. This stuff kills me.

The Vegas guys like Purdue. They're not wrong very often.
Either the most sarcastic post of the day or the least informed. Not meant to be a post game comment but you might want to learn on how a point spread is made. You will only find random articles but Vegas does not predict. Geesh. The USA really does need to legalize sports gambling in every state because the tax dollars from the sportsbooks would be enormous based on their profits of people who think Vegas predicts.

you are correct.... not sure how they got around that , but they did , all luck if you watched the game, they were getting dominated around the glass (millions of alley-oops)
