here's a pretty insightful preview of Purdue football. he's predicting a 6-6 overall l record and a 4 way tie for second in the West following UW. he also predicted IU for 7th in the east.

the story is rather hard to follow, so I'm providing several different links so you can read the entire analysis.

Purdue is ranked 50th overall ahead of Nebraska, UK, baylor, minn, pitt, . he rates tenn as 47, Maryland at 44, NW at 41, Iowa at 37, Louisville at 32.

Wisconsin has a pretty easy schedule. They should win the West going away.

Would love to steal a win against Wisconsin, not sure how their fans would cope with it.

Looking at Purdue's schedule, I would say 8 wins is about maximum within the realm of rational thinking. With bad luck/injuries, it could drop to 5 wins.

Purdue will probably get a game or two they shouldn't and drop a game or two they shouldn't. There are just a lot of question marks that need answered. The optimism comes from the facts that Purdue won't lose much and will have a ton of young talent joining up in '19. I wouldn't be surprised to see the '19 team grab 10 wins, even before seeing the schedule.

I was rather surprised to see Missouri rated so high in the national ratings. I also thought it interesting they predicted a 5 way tie in the West between Purdue, Iowa, NW, Nebraska and Minn and then ranked NW and Iowa a lot higher nationally than Purdue. I haven't really looked at their schedules. Looking at the overall ratings created some surprises. I had thought Purdue was on par with Cincy. But Cincy is ranked in the 70/80's while Purdue is 50. I was also kind of surprised to see Duke ranked in the 30's.

Admittedly, it's one group's opinions, but their opinions are fairly detailed, and comprehensive.

Missouri's being heavily overrated. If their defense isn't significantly better than last year, they'll get beaten to a pulp in the SEC.
