An awful performance against Valpo today... #Wow... Sad!

You talking about WBB, right? Are you surprised? I honestly thought this is exactly the kind of team I am expecting when our Big Three are all gone, and no one's there to mask Versyp's incompetence.
Versyp did a fantastic job living off her predecessor's recruits into a decade-plus job that is filled with nothing but mediocracy once those said recruits left. Now even IU has surpassed us in WBB, and it isn't even close.
That was awful to watch. SO many questions to ask but one is why is Layden playing at this time. SHe is contributing nothing. SHe is not any faster than a turtle, doesn't play defense well, can't shoot and has made a lot of bad passes. Now, she may be very good when her injury is gone but it isn't at present so why play her?
Just maybe, instead of Versyp clapping when the players make stupid mistakes constantly she should chew their asses out. And how can you miss all those layups though many are bad attempts.

Unfortunately I did not get to see the game but listened on the radio. I'm really not sure how Madison Layden hurt her knee. But I can tell you she is a very special player. One of the best shooters I've ever seen and a fantastic passer. One of those players who always seem to be one or two steps ahead of everyone else. She will be one of the best Lady Boilers ever by the end of her career.
As bad as you say she played today. She was one of only two players on the team that had a positive plus-minus in the game. Moore being the other.
My guess is Coach Versyp knows that Madison is a big key to them having a good season. So she is playing her to help get her into playing shape and for the experience.

I got shot down for saying this was the least talented Versyp team, but until they show me otherwise I stand with that. Their offense was awful tonight and if they had not played good D they would have been beaten badly. And even the D abandoned them at the end when they needed it most. We have no players that can really turn a game unless Mac comes back when she is supposed to. We hit 0 3's and, believe this, only two medium range jump shots by TK during the entire game, our 47 pts (4 in the first Q) mostly FTS and layups. Had a number of chances to squeak this one out, but Valpo outplayed them the entire second half. They did score 80 in their first game and early season can produce weird upsets. But again on O I saw no real strategy. Just throw it around and take the best shot and when it does not go in, you are toast. Lots of TO's too. I think we are in for a long season, but won't judge until Mac comes back.
1-18 3 point shots won't get it done... Yes according to Sharon Versyp the offense is less structured this season, relying on the players to create their own plays.. They're very young and the shooting is really streaky to say the least. Poor shooting can make anyone look terrible and yesterday Purdue looked terrible.
I have never seen a Purdue WBB shoot as badly as they have the last two games. 1 of 28 made 3PT shots over the last 2 games? From a team that we know can hit 3PTers? And with a freshman who was excellent at making them?
I think it hurt them that they the Miami game was canceled. They have only played 2 games while their opponents have played at least one more. Sitting around waiting for the next game is not what they need right now.
But surely this slump cannot continue. Between our football team and this one,.. frustrating!
