Amazing OT win over #13 Michigan in Ann Arbor.

We were behind by 16 in 4th quarter. Fantastic win for Coach Versyp & team.

Oden w 26 including game tying shot. McLaughlin w 21. 3rd ranked team women have beaten this B1G season.

WOW!! I wonder how many people turned the game off!!! True Confessions??
All of a sudden Purdue's players are shooting confidently when open, not just forcing the ball inside all the time. Oden 26, McLaughlin 21, Cooper 18. What makes it even better is that there are five freshman and sophomores who scored 77 of the 81 points. They, with three good recruits, are the cause for great optimism. The great defense during the late run after some mediocre defense earlier was a huge factor. Cooper, Harris, and Oden really stepped up on defense during the comeback.
Michigan is ranked No. 13.

Truly amazing win. I still don't believe the foul call against Purdue with only .7 seconds left in regulation with Michigan inbounding it from mid court. Fortunately, Michigan missed both free throw attempts.

That foul call was ridiculous and should have cost us the game. Terrible call in that situation so the basketball goddess put an invisible lid on the basket,
An Incredible win.
All talk of firing coach v in shut up

That's how it works. Play well and win and people love the coach. The opposite is also true. Not sure what it is with this team and last year as well where they get to a certain point in conference play and look like a completely different team than what they had been to that point.

Still work to be done but I think they have played themselves back to the right side of the bubble as things stand now. Those road wins at Iowa and at Michigan will look really good on their resume.

I will admit in the 3rd and early 4th quarters I began to read my book again and only paid half-way attention to the game. What a rush to come back like that. I think the BTN announcers were pretty amazed too. ("What is going on here?")

The foul call was ridiculous. The whistle clearly occurred after the buzzer and the board light-up. And they are saying she caught the ball and then was fouled in 0.4 seconds? (0.7 minus 0.3 they put back on the clock.) Does reviewing plays improve the game? It is not clear to me.

Ridiculous to end a hard fought game on a call that was so dicey they needed five minutes to review it. We got lucky but it never should have happened.

Isn't that larda$$ Enterline the guy who has shafted Purdue women for almost as many years as Hightower did the men. I thought he was a big IU fan and Purdue hater who should not even be in the game, let alone doing Purdue Women's games.

AND they missed a winning shot in OT. Two nice pieces of luck to go with their impressive comeback.

Happy for the ladies. Lots of young talent. Still need new coaching staff to take Purdue back to the next level. We've been here before several times in the past 13 years. No reason to believe hot shooting and spurts of excellent defense will consistently offset high turnovers & poor coaching.

Lately we must be watching a different team. How does the Michigan coach feel today?
Watched the first half and went to bed. I recorded it though and will watch it when I get home. I hope the recording caught the OT.

Probably not a good time to try and make your point as the women in the 4th quarter only had one TO compared to Mich's 5. And it would be hard to criticize Versyp's coaching in this game as Purdue was playing a more talented and deeper team coached by a well-respected, young Kim Barnes Arico in her 6th season there... and Arico was clearly out-coached.

If you look at the Purdue WBB Twitter feed in the locker room after the game (I have no idea how to post that) the team clearly loves their coach and vice versa. But I guess "excellent defense" just happens by itself.

Guess I am just tired of the emotional roller coaster with Versyp's teams over the years. Every year they play lights out in spurts, have vocal love for coach and teammates, tragedy strikes in one form or another, they play well in the BTT, just barely get into the NCAA, then the following year it is back to high turnovers, sloppy play, and finger pointing at players when things don't go right.

I am happy for the players and the way they have been playing of late. Maybe I am not seeing what you are in the way of coaching, but I always look to assist to turnover ratios as an indicator of good coaching and the "body of work" I have watched has me emotionally drained.

If the light has come on for the coaching staff and they have just been plagued by bad luck, I guess I should be eating crow and apologizing. I have done that on this board in the past only to get disappointed by poor play, high turnovers, and bad basketball soon after.

I guess I should resign myself to the fact we will have just enough success for the coaches to keep their jobs, but never get back to national prominence. I am having a hard time accepting that fate. Sorry.

I can understand your feelings. This same team looked absolutely incompetent at IU and Nebraska. But our team is so young that I can forgive inconsistency.

I just recently watched our 1999 Championship game again and it made me sad to know that such an event will probably not happen again in my life time (not that long, unfortunately -- grin) and I really doubt it will happen with any B1G team but I could be wrong.

I don't think firing Versyp is the answer but I understand why some are tired of her. Some thought Stephanie White might be the savior but my gosh is Vanderbilt bad (2-7, 6-17).

For the AD, who is the only one who can pull the trigger, the considerations are, whether we like it or not: 1) Do you fire a coach who has mostly a winning record and is consistently competitive in the BT? 2) Can you really find a coach who would come here and who could so significantly upgrade our recruiting that we would compete consistently on the national scene? I think some assume we could just find that silver bullet coach and all would be well. I am not sure that is as easy as sometimes projected. But, with victories like the Michigan one, decent recruiting, and a winning record, what would prompt Bo to consider this move except the complaints of a few fans who are living in past glory? It is true that our crowds, despite the disclaimers, are good enough that a coach could see that they could easily build them back up again so that might help. But, given what has transpired this season, it is hard to believe that this would even be a serious consideration by the AD. I guess we will just have to suffer with a winning team which is not true for a whole lot of programs.

Well said, Illiniboiler!!!

Re-watched the last 6:48 of 4th quarter and ot.
There are no words to describe all the things that happened in this comeback.
The foul was questionable. But all the announcers said if it did happen it was after time expired. The other two refs immediately waved it off.
Unreal:
A 70 per cent ft shooter badly misses both.
FlAgherty their super star hits a dagger 3 to pass legendary Katie Smith on BT scoring list and Clarissa hits 2 daggers to take the lead.
Really no adequate words. In decades of watching games maybe the most amazing comeback. Certainly one of them.

Absolutely agree. I am so glad I have the game recorded on my own DVD now and I know, just like the 1999 National Championship game, I will enjoy watching it again in the future.
