Am I the only one annoyed hearing about IU being a "storied program"?

Just go celebrate your team winning and leave us settlers alone

God, they beat a team seeded one line above them, and it's return to Glory..lol I'm sure those sweet sixteen rings have already been ordered. This storied program has now reached what is considered the pinnacle of their success. My how the times have changed.... ya know, from half a century ago.

All that said, it seems far too long ago that we have been able to celebrate the pinnacle of Purdue success: a co-B1G Championship!! Next year!!!!

That's the funny thing...nothing has changed for Purdue. You had an insurmountable lead of 13 points with a little over three minutes to play and still found a way to lose the game. I would think you would be studying how big brother does it instead of laughing at your big brother. The fact that IU beat UK and you choked doesn't surprise too many basketball fans, including Purdue fans.

Will you agree that IU was under-seeded? Will you agree that overall, IU had as much or more talent? Will you agree that at the beginning of the season, IU was rated very high? Will you agree that outside Ass Hall, IU is very suspect on the road? And as a former IU fan, may I remind you that you're only one dope smoking, gin swilling, drunk driving player away from all the ridicule and scorn IU suffered the past three seasons. You "new" IU fans tend to forgot those things, and LIKE Kentucky, it's all about the wins regardless of how they come.

TD - always nice to hear from you. The answers are yes, maybe, yes, and no. And I am hardly a new IU fan, but I did grow up a Purdue fan (Rick Mount) and even attended Purdue my freshman year.

Like you, I disagreed with how the termination of RMK was handled; wanted Davis fired two years earlier than he was; and was totally opposed to the hiring of Sampson. Unlike you, I didn't let my emotions lead me into blind hatred of the school I cheered for. If the players are out partying (they did that under RMK too) and get caught, they deserve the consequences that follow.

Let me be the first to wish you Happy Easter and to let you know that forgiveness is there if you seek it.

Yes, it would be a fascinating study indeed: How does it feel to cheer for a school with a head basketball coach who is universally regarded as a creepy trouser-tugging maniac?

It feels real good...I mean real good. How does it feel to be home watching that "creepy trouser-tugging maniac" on TV beating UK and playing UNC in the Sweet 16? Real bad I bet.

I wouldn't know. I had better things to do with my Saturday evening, but thanks for asking.

It's pretty simple - IU's spent the last 30 years promoting their banners from the 80s and promoting itself as a basketball powerhouse.

Purdue's sat on their hands afraid to brag about itself and couldn't market itself if its life depended on it. It's 2016 and they're just now able to turn the lights off in Mackey and are publicly fundraising to have elements in Mackey that should have been there for 15 years.

Another easy example - when (football) College Gameday came several years back, the backdrop Purdue gave them to use was a 1960s dorm with lime green paneling (Owen Hall) - for millions to see on TV.

Purdue simply does not have a clue how to showcase themselves, let alone with confidence.

Let's take what Mizzou did (using their mall on campus):

Thanks for the Easter wish....back at you.....having the grand kids over to see which one can find the golden egg. Blind hatred might be a bit strong....extreme disappointment might be more accurate. The difference with players under Knight and Crean is that Bob would not have given a second chance had they embarrassed the University. Crean condones a bunch as you know....did it at Marquette and at IU. Now what do I need forgiveness for?:(

Correct me if I'm wrong but the only player Crean hasn't dismissed from getting in trouble is Yogi, and his wasn't alcohol related. You say RMK wouldn't have put up with it, well, I'd imagine RMK put up with a lot more than any fan knows about.

You're reason for being disappointed has no merit. Life is too short to be so bitter.

Oh, they have changed. Notice how the IU fan's are now the little brother. Over here, on our board talking crap, because they feel unappreciated. Yeah, things have changed little brother

How has it changed, you guys have always claimed IU was the little brother... are you saying that wasn't true?

You have to be careful to not confuse "talking crap" with "facts." you guys did choke away a big lead - fact.

I as a fan don't feel unappreciated by PU fans, in fact, several from your board came over to congratulate IU. That shows maturity and respect. I was fully prepared to come here and congratulate you guys on beating MSU, just didn't get the opportunity.

Really? I doubt you'd find anyone defending Crean's poor attire. He clearly shops and Macy's and uses Macy's tailors, despite making 100x more than the average Macy's shopper.

But, can Purdue really talk? I mean Purdue's statue is of Gene f'in Keady. His hair is 10x worse than Trump's. And he wasn't exactly a slick dresser either.

Now, Painter dresses well and has nice hair. I'll give you that.

Williams is the first Indiana player from Oak Hill Academy, as well as the first Hoosier from the Boo Williams AAU program, coached by his uncle.....Crean's known pipeline to the East Coast Van. Troy was suspended for his second offense for two pre-season and two cupcake games. Do you really think if Boo wasn't Crean's link that Troy would still be a Hoosier after two offenses when others were DISMISSED for less. Yogi's was alcohol related. Both he and Robinson were "preliminarily charged with Minor Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage and Possession of a False Identification."

I'm content where I am. But I do miss the old days when there were intelligent discussions about basketball on both forums. I believe that Painter will turn this around and will at least equal Two Tone's record of making a Sweet 16.....and I hope for better results than Crean has given IU. With the talent Crean has on this team, if he loses before the FF he should resign. Remember....IU was a top three team for a huge part of the season.

TD - I was with you on this post up to "if he loses before the FF he should resign"...that was then topped by "IU was a top three team for a huge part of the season". We both know IU was never ranked higher than 8th or 9th the entire season. It was a nice try on your part though...I would give it a solid 4 out of 10.

Unlike many here, I think Painter is a good coach. His problem isn't coaching; his problem is Purdue in that it isn't a destination school for top players. Purdue gets the occasional highly ranked player, but they'll never recruit with IU consistently...and EVERYONE on this Board knows it. Their success has historically been due to coaching and tough-minded defense. That's why I respect them.

So you don't have to exaggerate or denigrate Crean. The good news is IU has 10X the fans that Purdue has minimally...we can absorb you leaving IU and going over to Purdue.

And as I told you earlier, Easter is about forgiveness of bitterness. Enjoy your week.

I'll give you that Macy's is a pathetic place to shop (worse than woolworths back in the day)

As usual, mostly nonsense. We played that last game in Des Moines, not Assembly Hall. We won the Big Ten title at Iowa. We also had wins at Nebraska, Illinois, Rutgers, and Michigan. Of course, IU was under seeded. Not only didn't we get to play close to home, we had to play much tougher games. What's your point?

The same coach that got Coach of the Year in the B1G and is a finalist for national? Feels pretty sweet, actually.

This team wasn't picked to finish in the top 2 in the BT. We do have some good player. You basing our talent on NBA potential or ratings from HS??

You've been saying this for over a decade and making fantastic predictions like IU finishing 7-9 in the B1G race. I guess I'd just assume such a Bob Knight fan would have actually learned a little something about basketball. Guess that isn't the case, sadly.

Because you're like a second tier program and fourth most successful behind IU, ND, and Butler in this state. Just know your place.

That is BS. We are tied with IU for most conference titles and have a winning record against each of those programs. That makes us the best program in the state. Heck, in some years, we could beat the Pacers as well.

Butler is not a better program than us. A few good years for them doesn't change that. ND and Purdue are comparable but we rarely recruit the same players so it's not really a big deal.

SoCal is a loosier fyi. Obvious who went to the 4th tier academic schools ITT

At least be honest. I am more supportive of Coach Painter than 75% of the fans that post here. I was a Purdue fan beginning in 1970...the first game I ever watched was UCLA vs. Purdue in the finals.

So please Mr. BoilerExpress, be honest.

You sure know a lot about a team you supposedly hate so much, that's one creepy obsession you've got going there.

Hide your kids, hide your wife, and hide your husbands too, TD2 is rapin everybody.

I would care if we were still in the tourney, but we aren't. They have 5 banners (even if they are covered in dust), one less Big Ten Champsionship then us, they offset embarassing losses with big wins, and as big of a lunatic Crean is he wears his heart on his sleeve when it comes to his team and players.

I may have over reacted and wanted painter fired too, but under cooler heads I still think Painter is our best option and the disruptiom to the recruiting cycle would be far more devastating then losing to Little Rock.

We'll get back at it next year! #BTFU

I thought now IU and Purdue both have 22 titles.
Crean has 2 and Painter 1

Butler lost. Stick a fork in them. It's not like they have Brad Stevens. I wish Greg Gard could have been hired by my boilers. Dang it.
