Sindelar (or whoever is the starting QB) is going to have a plethora of weapons next year. Just need the OL to be serviceable and Purdue has a chance to be the best offense in the country. Not saying they will be, but they will certainly have the potential to score a ton of points.
Conversely, I think the defense will take a big step up with at least 3 true freshmen in the mix to contribute in a big way. Grant and GK are the obvious ones, but Graham, Beverly, Allen, and Faucheux would be ones to watch as contributors.
Saunder’s and Hunter will likely be big time contributors year 2 after a redshirt year to get bigger, stronger, faster. I am guessing at least 2 of the DBs will red shirt as well, but it is entirely too soon to guess which ones. Normally, I would say only Grant would be contributing next year, but DB has a ton of questions and was easily the weakest position outside of a healthy JT (senior who is gone and his brother BT suffered what sounds like a bad leg injury to end the year) and Majors (who was very impressive, and imagine him with a passrush to help him out!) DT is not a position where I would expect a true freshman to contribute, but there will be a lot of questions about the DT position. It was so thin this year that when Neal went out, the solution was Gio. If Neal can get back early, it’s likely Neal and Watts, with a mix of Johnson and Marks. Just remains to see how Faucheux shows in camp.
Overall, the talent and depth will take a big step up. The problem is, they get a lot younger with a lot of unknowns. It will be nice to have some weapons like KB, Bell, King, and Wright to help out Moore and the QB. This year’s camps will be a blast. A lot of position battles to watch and a ton of young potential.
