Saw a comment from CMP that there is an outside chance of adding another big at semester break. Who could this be? A football player? Anybody know anything?

Someone asked the question about midyear transfers and Painter said it was possible. I doubt he has anyone in mind because they typically wouldn't be known at this time.
He was quoted in the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette as saying there was an outside shot so he must have someone on his radar,

Yes if Haas, Biggie or Vince goes down we are in a lot of trouble. There will be games where 1 or 2 of them are in foul trouble and you will see it then. We are already thin up front

Can someone outline the incoming transfer rules and scenarios? We are operating with one open scholly, correct? The front court is so thin. Any game that Biggie gets in early foul trouble Painter will have a predicament because Haas will have to hit the bench to rest occasionally. Could Basil and Vincent play a few legitimate minutes as the 4 and 5 if needed? Sure would be nice to have another warm body with some bulk.
From what sources could Painter pull a midseason transfer who would be eligible to play immediately? Besides the co rec, that is.

I don't know the rules, but someone jokingly mentioned Patrick Bade - I for one would welcome him back with open arms. He could give a few minutes that would be better than using a walk on.

Patrick Bade was awful, you'd be better playing a walk on are you kidding me? He would come in, foul in the first minute, turn the ball over, and foul again. He was so bad he went to play football instead.

In fairness to Bade, the dude was a stud in high school and had potential. I coached in Marion County, and some coaches compared him to Luke Haringody when predicting his future success at the college level. He was a late bloomer. Unfortunately, he never had success on the low block on offense, or defending the low post- and he never developed the confidence to knock down an outside shot- but the ability was there, it just never matured.

On another note, when discussing football players- I was on campus when the team added Charles Davis to the roster. They picked the wrong football player to add. I played with Chuck Davis and Dustin Keller.... Believe me, Dustin Keller had the athleticism that the Purdue team could have used at that time. I saw Keller dunk from the free throw line. Saw him take off from two feet outside the circle and throw it down with ease. Having played against a few other guys on those 2003-2005 rosters in men's leagues shortly thereafter, I can absolutely say that Keller would have helped. Maybe there is a guy out there on the football team? Maybe not.

He certainly had his issues, however, I'd much rather have him helping in practice and having the option of playing big when 2 Purdue bigs are in faul trouble than not having that option.

I've just recently returned to the board. Just how bad is Taylor? I know we have a very thin rotation with the 2 in trouble, but not hearing a lot on Taylor's leg. Anyone?

He has surgery and is out until at least February and maybe a medical redshirt.

From what I've heard, he may not play at all this year. Maybe he can go by Feb, but I wouldn't count on it.

It is a shame because Jaquil had a quick first step and looked good in Spain. I loved his attitude and athleticism.

I hope not. Don't continue this for another year. Let him play out his remaining two seasons and move on. Nothing against him, but there is no reason to think that another year is going to do anything but take up a scholarship.
