A prominent Democrat flips on CRT

Beto is the phoniest of the Dems. I think he only runs to feed his ego and rake in campaign funds to live on until his next campaign.

If you don't recognize grooming. Read this "study"

Half of your generation are fugazi.

Does anyone think 50% of kids are gay? And that Newsweek would run this?

Grooming.

There is a reason that that the msm took a talking point and made it main stream with "don't say gay".

What Dems are promoting CRT in K-12 schools? Conservatives are the ones in an uproar about something not even being taught in K-12. Beto is telling the truth and nothing out of the ordinary. I don’t know what he said before on the CRT issue but in the clip he said that “we don’t see CRT being taught in our schools right now. It’s a course that is being taught in law schools”. When asked about whether that should it be taught. He said no. I agree. CRT should remain being taught in law schools. It is an advance topic. CRT has never been taught in K-12 schools.

What I don’t like is that conservatives have taken issue of what is taught in schools, particularly the horrible stuff that happened in black history. They call that CRT and now want that part of history removed from schools. Last year folks in PA tried to ban children’s books about Rosa Parks and MLK because they don’t want their kids to feel bad. Give me a break.

Such a simple, bad faith argument. No one wants rasism, The Cival War, MLK, Jim Crowe, voting rights...etc removed from schools. My schools taught them all and I lived in a town of barely 2000 people in the '80s

Racial Pedagogy is what people are discussing.

It is also naive to think that CRT isn't in k-12. Its the pedegogy. Quit the obscication.

Of course your school taught that stuff like they did in mine and every one else’s school back in the day and no one thought nothing of it. I guess cancel culture is alive and well today, because in some school districts parts of black history is getting removed or attempted to under the guise of CRT.

It is not naive. You really think 3rd graders are discussing court cases like Plessy vs. Ferguson, Dredd Scott Decision, or Brown vs Board of Education? Even non high school history class. Those were mentioned in our history books but far from any CRT type depth.

He looked at a poll and sees how unpopular it is. Remember, it’s all about raw power to Democrats. They’ll change their stance on anything for power. Isn’t that right, @indy35 ?

That's because he's running for governor in Texas. This guy is total dog shit. Anyone who elects him deserves what they're getting...

I imagine CRT wouldn’t fly very far in Texas. Beta’s just doing what he had to do politically. In about 2 years, he may flip to being a Republican

You’re a joke. My 4th grader wrote a paper on Brown versus the Board of Education for black history month, which I have no problem with. It’s the other crap that comes in JR high school that I have a problem with.

Teaching equality is fine. Teaching that white 10 yr olds are oppressors today….is a little over the top for 10-15 yr olds.

That is another point of mine about CRT. Teaching that white 10 year olds are oppressors today is NOT CRT. I don’t know what that is if they are teaching that but it ain’t CRT.

These “experts” failed to acknowledge incidents like what happened at R.I. Meyerholz Elementary School in California, where third graders were told to see themselves as either oppressor or oppressed.

my favorite line….
Asian-Americans are the “inconvenient minority”: they significantly outperform all other racial groups, including whites, in terms of academic achievement, college admissions, household income, family stability, and other key measures. Affirmative action and other critical race theory-based programs would devastate their admissions to universities and harm their futures.

and you say it’s not being taught in schools. The only reason it’s “not being taught” is because people are speaking out against CRT being taught. If not, the proliferation of CRT would continue. (BTW, as I have stated, I have zero problem with this being taught in college.)

Yes, whatever they teaching should not be taught in schools. Again whatever this is, is not CRT. CRT is the discussion or teaching how racism interjects with the legal system. Systemic racism basically. Teaching blacks that they will never be anything or teaching white kids to feel guilty about being oppressors is not teaching how racism interjects in the legal system thus should not be called CRT from both sides. Just because the black dude says that it is CRT does not mean it is so. Just because it is still an advanced topic, the real CRT should be taught in K-12 either; it never was taught.

Sadly, I think you don’t realize how the far left teachers like to take liberties with concepts and run with them. You may not think they are CRT, but that’s what they think they are trying to teach.

Perhaps.

What I don’t like is when the right wingers try to remove real black history topics or books that they don’t like under the guise of CRT.

Black history is fine, I was taught it and I think everyone can learn from it. Keep the spin in college. Or maybe even HS social studies at (Jr or Sr year) but becoming a dominating topic is over the top for HSers.

Because you have this rigid view of CRT. It's not rigid and I don't know how many times I have to prove that to you. You're too stubborn to learn anything outside of your little world view.

I don't think anyone wants to remove black history from schools. Slavery happened. Oppression with Jim Crow happened. Everyone needs to understand that. What they don't need to understand as children are that white people are somehow "privileged". That's the part that people have a problem with...

White people are privileged. You don’t need any school to iterate that. For starters, there are 2 justice systems one for blacks and one for whites.

So white people are privileged because the justice system works the way it should and was designed?

I think you mean to say blacks are underprivileged when it comes to the justice system. Not the other way around...

Black people are privileged. Have you seen how many of y’all are getting released after committing crimes these days? Everybody caters to blacks these days. You get protected by the government and media. That’s privilege. Must be nice.

No, you are privileged when you are white and drunk and kill a family of 4 and only get 10 years probation. The only jail time served was to await trial.

Two women in Ohio separately commit similar offenses. The same judge in both cases gives the black woman a harsher sentence. The white woman even has a more egregious criminal history. Nothing new, the basic status quo in the US.

71% of black children are born to single mothers.
13% of US population is black, yet blacks commit 56% of violent crimes.
The leading cause of death among black males 15-35 is murder at the hand of other black males.

These seem like pretty significant problems in the black community. Is white privilege responsible for any of them?

Bullshit. This is a false narrative that has been proven wrong so many times. You just refuse to listen.

OJ Simpson anyone?
Hiring the best lawyers is not the same as privilege, white or otherwise. To bring up OJ, like y’all always do means that you clearly do not understand white privilege. What got OJ acquitted was the combination of racist LA cops being exposed and sloppy crime scene forensics.

Didn’t OJ kill two white people? Would that be considered a hate crime if the roles were reversed?

For the sake of argument that OJ indeed killed the ex-wife and friend. That by itself is not considered a hate crime. The bar for hate crimes is set high. Killing 2 people, that happens to belong to another race, in a jealous rage is not a hate crime. However, if OJ yelled racial slurs, wrote racial slurs on the the bodies, or sent racial notes to Nicole prior to the incident, then that may constitute a hate crime depending what the law actually says about that matter.

Is this part of the justice system for blacks? Out on the street after multiple violent crimes, including a previous attack on a mother and child? Is that the justice system you're actually bitching about? Give me a f'ing break...

Jussie Smollett just got convicted on 5 of 6 charges, which each had a 3 year jail term.
He was given only 150 days in jail. Was that white privilege?

The whole concept of a Hate crime is monumentally stupid.
If someone randomly kills you and he gets convicted, he gets XX yrs in prison.
If someone kills a person and he allegedly has a bias/hate for that person, then it's XX + 5years.
Is the person, who was randomly killed any less dead, than the targeted individual? Are their lives less valuable?

I think most people would be more concerned about someone randomly killing people. How does anyone avoid a random killing?

The whole concept of "Hate" crimes had PC origins, which allows the Legal System to participate in virtue signaling. Symbolism over substance runs rampant.

So, I guess you are against the Emmitt Till Anti-Lynching Bill that was just passed bi-partisan in the House and the Senate last week.

BNI isn't black. He pretends to be, but was outed a while ago as a lily white BLM loser pushing his white guilt on everyone.

Google pedagogy.

Again, your lies and bad faith are showing. No one thinks schools shouldn't discusss Plessy v. Ferguson, etc.

You are just making strawmen, equating MLK to CRT.

Its the pedagogy.

The parents that claim that CRT is being taught in schools do. Some parents in Pennsylvania last year tried to get children's books about Rosa Parks and MLK removed from the school library. These so called anti-CRT parents are trying to get rid of anything about black history that puts white people in a bad light. The topic of CRT was a big part in the election of Youngkin in Virginia. Desantis banned it in FL. It has been a Faux News talking point for almost 2 years now.
