I have seen some theories and quite a few opinions on this online, but curious what the posters here think. It seemed to me like the timeout by Georgia on OSU’s fake punt play was not called in time but the official granted it anyway and blew the whistle and they blew the play dead after the ball had been snapped. Seems unlikely that it was called on time because unlike icing a kicker or the end of game situations, they would not have informed the official their intention to call it.

as per the official up in the booth said " the refs always give it because the verbal signal is heard before seeing the visual signal" which explains things to me.
