A little love from CBS Sports....

Jumping into the end zone like that often draws a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.

If he would have been in open field, it probably would have. I believe that he though that the defenders were going to make a play on him. Heck, I was sitting down there around the 5-10 yard line watching it unfold, and I though the was going to get tackled on the 2 or 3 yard line.. I think it was reasonable (and not unsportsmanlike) to dive for the endzone in that situation..

I thought it was close to being a penalty. A TE at full speed with contact by a DB at the 1 yard line is going to end up in the end zone.

I have a rules question that I'm too lazy to look up right now. Is Blough not considered a QB because the ball was pitched back to him after he handed it off to the RB? I ask because the defender hit Blough high after he threw the ball. Does anyone know if targeting would have applied on that play? If so, I would have expected a replay review to determine whether contact was made above Blough's shoulders based on last week's ejection. Thanks to anyone who knows the rule.

MO would probably validate your thoughts unless he was hit a little before and knocked out of bounds. Still, the most horrific thing is the possibility that a play like that would be considered unsportsmanlike. THAT has many concerns with many faces...
