Southern Illinois Guard visits Purdue
Painter might have his guard of choice visiting this weekend. Lance Jones is an experienced guard that's shown flashes of shooting, an ability to drive to the rim, and play defense.

Is Jones the splashy name some of you have been hoping for? No, but I'm not sure that was ever on the table. The fact is Purdue lost just five regular season games, won the Big Ten, and the Tournament while being ranked #1 for 7 weeks this last season. They did that with two true freshman guards playing a bulk of the minutes. Big name guards wanting to transfer aren't looking for a situation where they'll have to compete for minutes against two guys that will be the back bone to Painter's teams going forward.

Jones would be a solid pick up, with a lot of experience, and expect him to play a role similar to David Jenkins Jr. this last season. A combo guard that would serve as the primary point guard back up to Smith.
