3 commits in one week so much for our 100 ranking behind IU & Illinois

Thoughts on our new coach?

He seems to be the right guy for Purdue. This year may be a struggle still, but he will get the offense back on track. The question will be can Purdue stop anybody? Kinda like IU has been in the pre-Tom Allen years.

The change in attitude and expectations by Brohm and his staff is obvious and that will do wonders for recruiting. And who better than to lead QB-U than a QB?

I do think IU will win the next two bucket games before Purdue finally stops the streak.

Fair enough. I'm thrilled we just landed a solid player from your new coach's former stomping grounds. Luckily, Brohm won't ignore the state like Hazell did.

For some reason, IU never really showed much interest in Ball, or maybe Ball showed no interest in IU. It is strange considering Allen's connection to Ben Davis.

Personally, I prefer Hazell's approach to in-state recruiting. :)

Yes,you would prefer Purdues last coachs approach to recruiting. And the Hoosiers wont win the next two Buckets.

We're recruiting big DBs: 6+ foot, 200# kids who will weigh in at 215-220 in a year or two. Hmmm. Really quite interesting to see where this goes.

I'll take Nick Holt's defensive pedigree over Allen's any day of the week. Our defense will be lightyears better than the defenses of Hudson's or Els'.

IU is going to slide back to where it belongs - DFL in the BIG. You guys play in the tougher division with OSU, Michigan, PSU, MSU, and resurgent Maryland. IU's offense is going to be noticeably worse than under Wilson and your defense will be exposed too because the offense is worse.

Purdue has a real college football coach. IU hired a HS coach.

Allen's lack of head coaching experience at the college level does worry me a little bit. But, I think he is the perfect coach for IU and only time will tell for both Brohm and Allen.

Brohm has a track record of success (.750 winning %).

It seems like Glass panicked when he fired Wilson and Allen was the easy answer. There are a number of good coaches IU could have pursued but didn't.

The best I see Allen doing is maintaining what Wilson has built. Better defense, offense will stagnate a bit

I agree, he panicked. There were a lot of rumors swirling about other bigger programs interested in Allen as D-Coord. So he was dealing with promoting him or losing a guy that seemed to be popular with the players.

On a side note, iu just lost their best recruit Pechac. His dad is on staff there. Yikes.

Wilson did make me nervous as he seemed to be getting a lot of momentum with IU. Only time will tell with both coaches, but I am very happy with the job Brohm has done so far.

This is a little presumptuous given that last year's game in Bloomington was anything but easy for you guys and since then we hired a much better coach while you fired the first coach you had that took you to back-to-back bowl games in about a quarter century for a guy who only has head coaching experience at the high school level (and very marginal results at that).

You are right, it is presumptuous of me. And Purdue could have, and maybe should have, won the game last year. My logic is your offensive line is still the weak link this year and next year the game will be back in Bloomington. While I do think IU will win the next two, it would not surprise me to see the mini-streak stop at four.

I'd check the line of transfers and incoming players before making an assumption about he offensive line. In the fall, it could very well only have one or two starters on it that were with the first team starters in the spring. Although I don't think the offensive line will dominate...they surely won't be the weakness they have been the past two to three years. The same can be said for WR as well. There are enough bodies now to shift players around to find a proper fit instead of just piecing together an offensive line with bodies.

Brohm and his staff have done an excellent job finding players to plug into the offensive line. It has been upgraded, but by how much will only be found out in the fall.
