That's what it looks like to me to finish out the regular season. Disappointing.

The popular idea seems to be that PG play is our biggest weakness. But what if PJ Thompson didn't score 16 today? We'd have been blown out before half without him.

We can't get the ball inside against a competent opponent and we lack leadership and toughness. Painter and Davis are supposed to be providing those things. They are not. I'm not terribly surprised about Painter, but I thought Davis had so much more to give this team.

We'll make the tournament. Who knows, maybe even Cline and/or Mathias will get hot and we can make some noise. But what a disappointment this is shaping up to be.

we are looking increasingly mediocre. getting away from ajh. turnovers. poor defense. now kendalls status is questionable. we gotta do something.

Oy... best start in 28 years and a lot of basketball to be played is a disappointment. .. come on stop with the over reactions.

Yeah I don't see it that way.
As it stands out toughest games are behind us now that we have played Iowa twice.
Perhaps instead of this team not being very good, Iowa is indeed that good.
If we had played the way we did in the second half today at home, as bad as it was, we would have split with them.

I see no reason to think we can't possibly win out or lose one, maybe two.

This team is still pretty good, they are clearly a work in progress however.

I can't see this team beating Maryland or MSU. We're not going to win at IU either. That's 4 losses right there. Thise teams will go on offensive runs that we can't counter. Another loss in there should be easy enough to find. 22-9, 10-8

Well, I can tell you that if we lose all those games? After all the Final4 talk early? That would be an epic collapse like a cheap lawn chair.

Well we obviously disagree. The games will happen so I guess we will see who is right and who is wrong.
I doubt you will be anywhere to be found if I'm right however.

i dont think so at all. would have loved him today...

I get that, however, I didn't see nearly as many bad shots. I'm just not a Stephens fan really. I'm leaning towards mostly Haas as a huge liability today. And, I place that on Painter for leaving him in so long. JMHO.

If we win out I will kiss your ass in Time Square and give you an hour to draw a crowd. Or I'll come here and give you props. Your choice.

Kendall lead the team in scoring last game.........not saying he would have done that again, but I would have to take my chance on him contributing

Seriously WTF are you talking about? No he didn't. He played 5 lousy minutes last game. You need to check your facts on this and your erroneous statements on our best start in 28 years.

Love the positive pete's beating the best start in 28 years drum. So freaking what? Are we going to get a BIG title banner/BIG tourney banner/final4 banner b/c of a freaking start to a season? No...

Just as in ALL sports its not how you start but how you finish. Of course the season is not over by a long stretch BUT as of this moment, against really good to decent teams, the team as shown no balls to compete for a full 40 mins.
If this team is going to do anything, AJ has to be dominant. Of course cut the TO down but the best player on the team has to play like it for the team to do anything in the post-season.
I didn't think we would win this game but damn I thought at least I would see 40 mins of effort and intensity from the guys.

And that's the difference between the positive Petes and the negative Nancys. I mean, I don't give a sh*t if you don't think PU will win, that's your prerogative..........but to come on this forum after PU loses just rip the team, coach, players, etc. with such delight is just wrong.

But still no comments about the fact that we have started better than this twice in the timeframe you guys throw out there?

Exactly. Especially when some posters ONLY show up after a loss. Want to have a civil discussion? That is encouraged but to just come here to crap on everything, like you that is what I have issue with. To just disregard anything positive is just unrealistic.

We haven'the though. .. Jconline has an article mentioning that we are currently having the best start in 28 years. Or at least did up until the Iowa game, don't know what it is now and don't care anymore.

The next game is the important thing now.

At some point, that dog would hunt. But now that that narrative is false....a narrative switch will be found. Now, it'll be "the next game" since the best start has fallen to the trash can. The fact is, this team is highly talented. We saw today, we some of us, the PG role is being filled nicely and is no longer a place to point the excuse and finger of contempt. No more, wait til next year with (insert recruit). This was the year. Next year we lose AJ, our best player. This was the year with high expectations and Final4 claims by many. The potential is being wasted by Painter IMO. He's blowing it. If you're fine with that? Ok. But, not all of us are happy watching a good team lay an egg. At some point Painter needs to get with the program and solve these issues. It's on him.

21-3 in 93-84, 24-3 in 09-10. So not close really. I guess I just have problems and will never forget the fact that we were 24-3 after we won on the night Hummel went down Minnesota.

This team was ranked 21st at beginning of season. PG was the concern and is today. Someone mentioned Thompson scored 16. When I discuss PG I am not talking about points. I am talking about turnovers, distributing the ball and running the offense. Iowa has guys who can consistently score.

Actually this was going be hard to win. Purdue lost the game at halftime. They played well but had 8 turnovers. Purdue should have been up 8-10 at halftime and were only up 2. GAME!!! Look at it this way: Swannigan could have hurt his ankle on that inj and Edwards might have had a serious knee inj. The fact both players came out healthy is a net positive in my book.

Ok A) I took an objective look at the game and thought we wouldn't win. Not being a homer not being a negative nancy but objective and thought PU wouldn't pull it out. Not bias just my basketball opinion. Thought it would be something like 74-73 Iowa.
B) How dare you think I take delight in us losing. I f*cking HATE when we loss. I have to take a step back from the game when we show no heart and make stupid mistakes b/c it makes me so mad.
That statement alone makes me madder than anything the positive petes or trolls say. I am critical b/c I care.
C) You, BBG and Beea can be happy with your "best start in 1,000,000 years." Like you said "thats your prerogative." I am not. I want f*ucking banners this year. Not just a solid season w/ nothing to show for it.
D) Finally, don't lump me in with the overly negative people. I try my best every single game to objectively look at things. And right now, my objective eyes tell me that a team with at elite 8 talent plays with 2nd round heart and brains 50% of the time against upper level competition which is 50% too much for me and just not acceptable.

What.....no love for the middle-of-the road Marvins or on-the-fence Franks?

Well, opinions vary.......we both have established that. I thought PU could win this game. You didn't. No big deal. But to come on here after losses and say this team has no heart, PU will only finish such and such, etc. is just furthering some agenda IMO. Perhaps you are not to be lumped into the Nancy crowd, IDK. I suppose your opening line about the positive pete's beating the best start in 28 years drum drew my criticism because I was the poster who brought that up initially.
