Dakich on the telecast was right. Purdue is just as good #1 seed Gonzaga. You could argue that Purdue actually has more shooters. Gonzaga might have a slight edge on the perimeter as far as quickness.
I'm starting to think that RPI might not be the best metric.
IMO: the biggest flaw is how RPI calculates Strength of Schedule. It's seemingly set by late December. That makes it difficult for the RPI to account for improvement or decline once conference season begins.
Purdue is playing great right now but is saddled with the B1G's weak non-conference RPI numbers. Meanwhile, UVA is in a free-fall but still protected by the ACC's strong RPI numbers before Christmas.
