Jack Benter, 2024 commit, and Brownstown Central star will miss his team's game today against Brownsburg with an avulsion fracture. The injury is a little worse than he feared. The swelling had not gone down much and they did x-rays yesterday. The good news is it is treated mostly like a bad sprain. They'll put him in a boot, rest a few days, and then get into rehabbing and conditioning for it.
That said, it's an absolute bummer. Benter is an absolute star, the best pure scorer in the state, and a candidate for Mr. Basketball in the state of Indiana. He led his team to semi-state last year and has his eyes on getting all the way this season. It's a gruesome looking injury and ankles are always tricky.
To give an idea of how tough the kid is, despite it being covered in black and blue and swollen, he tried to get on it and run through a couple things this week hoping to not miss more time, but it's obviously not something he can play through right now.
