We have had some crystal ball picks for a couple of 2021 IN recruits recently.

It looks like Steve has picked us for Yanni. Of course, it is early, but he would be a tremendous pickup. I really want to see him play together with his brother.

We also have another crystal ball for WR Terrell. That is 2 now. I know he is a top 10 recruit for the state of IN in 2021. He has good size. Has anyone seen him play?

I realize the need to bring in new players every year, but it would be nice to have the opportunity to evaluate the ones from the past two classes on the field. There's been plenty of hype, but only a small number that have seen the field during a game. Of course, a few that have, have been great.

I believe Terrell is a very good high jumper. Maybe even state champion?

By my count I have seen ~11 first and second year players on the field on offense and ~8 on defense. That is an uncomfortably large number due to depleted Junior and Senior classes. We've got to be one of the younger teams in D1.

Yanni would be huge. Need to over-recruit the offensive line too. That is what's going to take this thing to the next level.

We have 2 true freshmen starting and playing virtually every snap. We have about 8 more that are getting some or even significant playing time. That is very unusual in college football.

From 247sports.com "Jeff Brohm will have to exceed expectations for a second straight year with a team that's one of the youngest in the FBS. 72 percent of the roster is made up of underclassmen."

I forgot where I heard it, but Purdue was listed as the 4th youngest team in FBS.

I wonder what it would be for this weeks game if Sindelar, McCann, and Neal can’t play.

It’s great for the young guys to be opportunities. Purdue will be scary good in a few years, but the luck with these seniors this year is outrageously unfortunate.

There was a thread talking about what Stu said claiming 10 true freshmen could see significant time. Well.. Bell/Wright/GK/Graham/Cormier are already there. King/Grant/Allen/KB aren’t far behind. A few others could see 1-4 games. Not ideal in the short term, but absolutely fantastic for the long term.

Players yet to see significant time that will likely see time next year in my opinion will be Hunter. I also like all the OL in the ‘19 class too, but hopefully there is enough talent in front of them to keep them from playing significant time. Starting true freshmen OL is always less than ideal.

It takes a few years to totally turn over the one recruiting over10 years. Each season going forward if current recruiting is maintained will allow more talent to shine. Need to keep the recruiting train rolling.

One of the articles recently did a count of how many true or red shirt freshman had played so far and I believe their count was something like 23...I was shocked by that number but the chart had some of them only playing very few downs so I hadn’t really noticed them all...
