Painter now needs a backcourt focus in 18 now that his front court has seemed to be the focus of 2017 in what we now have and any possible recruits that would be added to 17.

It would also be nice to get an in state recruit or two, however not sure 2018 is the year for that unless somehow Langford is a possibility.....

Who are the backcourt guys he is checking into for 18?

Robert Phinesee - in-state
Foster Loyer - MI
Courtney Ramey - MO
Neftali Alvarez - FL
Romeo Langford - in-state
Robby Carmody - PA
Musa Jailow - in-state
Eric Hunter, Jr.- in-state
Jerome Hunter - OH
Kevin Easley, Jr. - In-state

Adam Trapp - MN - 7' 2" center

LOL

No one can seriously believe that 2018 won't be another class full of players that were 2nd and 3rd choice/tier players.
Just like the 2017 class.
CMP just struggles mightily with recruiting.
A hit or two every few classes but he can't get it done overall.

2017 good class....as many predicted. Solid mid pack B1G class to keep us competitive. I think the disappointed were like me thinking 17 could of been a great class....possibly #1 in B1G. Did not work out......But why the constant droning on negativism boilersallthewaynow?

How many spots in 18 are we likely to have?

Carmody starting to blow up, Phinesee isn't happening, and Hunter will be a national recruit. Doesn't look promising.

five plus swanigan

Thompson
Mathias
Smotherman
Edwards
Haas

Getting Eastern would make a huge difference in the overall picture. He fills a major hole.

More or less, we would have:
1 - Carsen Edwards
2 - Cline
3 - Ewing/Wheeler
4 - Taylor
5 - Haarms

In 2017 we lose Spike, McKeeman=2 and possibly Biggie, Haas and V. Edwards=3 and move Eifert back to walk-on possibly=6. (In reality lets just hope 4 open spots and Haas and V. Edwards stay)

*Note: Those 4 spots taken by Ewing, Haarms, Wheeler and possibly Eastern or Haase.
*Note: If Eastern commits then that solidifies the SG spot, hurting our potential chances with Langford and Carmody and if Haase commits then it hurts our chances with Adam Trap since we will have Haarms and Haase even though they are shooting 4/5's and Trap would be a post up 5.

In 2018: PJ, V. Edwards, Mathias, Smotherman and Haas graduating=5 open spots

My wish list:
Romeo Langford - in-state
Robert Phinesee - in-state
Robby Carmody - PA
Kevin Easley Jr.-In State
Adam Trapp-MN

Probably what will happen:
Robert Phinesee - in-state
Robby Carmody-PA
Kevin Easley, Jr. - In-state
Adam Trapp-MN
Pete Nance-OH

PG and C would look attractive to future commits in my opinion depending on if we get Eastern and Haase.

Boiler Up and lots of good chances at all of these guys to be future Boilermakers.

If we get Carmody and Easley. Jr ..... YAY US ... and Trapp (two "p"s) would add some zest. Phinesee would fill a nice spot for the future. He is a HARD worker. So, a year or so behind an upper-classman would move him miles.

Why wouldn't Rob happen ? I have never asked him directly where he is going but I expect him to Boiler Up ! I talked to his head coach Sunday and I know Rob has a lot of suitors and is enjoying the recruiting process including Purdue's pursuit . IMO it would be shocking if he goes elsewhere . So many factors are involved in where you commit but what you think of the head coach is normally at the top of the list and Painter is at the top of his list . I will see him Friday and expect to chat but I will not ask .

I know you like to hit up teenagers on twitter and email to be an insider, but he isn't going to Purdue. Will be UVA or IU more than likely as they are the two schools showing him the move "love". He's enamored Bennett and Crean.

Thx fixed my spelling errors......
