I would take any of them to be Boilers. Langford ain't gonna happen but we can wish. Carmody looks like a Boiler tho!

We got to get some playmakers in this class. Playing time won't be an issue.
Yep. It looks like we need every position other than PG and we stand a great chance to get Phinisee as another PG. We can use immediate help at all other spots. Something that has not been the case for a while.

I'm telling you, Romeo loves Painter and Purdue. Don't be shocked if that's where he winds up.

I want whatever it is you are sipping on. Landing Romeo would put a Painter Statue right next to Wooden. I hope you are right, but I would be surprised if we make his top 5. If he has parents and uncles that want a job, now would be a good time to hire them before somebody else does.

Why do we have no chance with Langford? A top prospect in the state should always be looking at in-state schools first? I remember the good ol' days where in-state talent stayed in-state. We would be fighting with IU for top in-state talent, and that's it. You either loved Keady, or you loved Knight, and you hated the other one. Nowhere in between.

Those days are long gone I'm afraid.

At the rate that Painter is utterly failing on the '17 class , how could any rational person believe that he can close on any of those players listed for '18 ?

Maybe he should concentrate on players who are eligible for a 6th year .

Trust in Painter ! Tic

Guess what...it's not the good old days anymore. And it never will be again.

We've missed on one player I wanted (JJJ). I'd been fine with Williams but wasn't sold on him. Now if we miss out on Eastern and Tillman, then I think we can agree it was a disappointment. But no one is "utterly" failing yet.

That's exactly why Purdue has a slim to no chance of getting him. Recruiting is not just a state by state thing. Langford will have the blue bloods all calling.

MSU and IU have no chance this kid is going to Duke or Kentucky. so no you have no chance at getting him. also boilerbulldog how can you not be sold malik williams? kid is going to be a big time player with big time upside. i think him and JJJ will be the best two players in the state of indiana 2017 class after all their careers are done. really wanted him at MSU and yes Bown is in the indiana class but he is a lock to the king of the big ten Mr. Tom Izzo! we are looking at a class of 5* JJJ, 5* Bowen, 5* McCoy, 4* Eastern, and 4* Tillman. best of luck to you guys and "R.I.P to da competition" - derrick nix

Jallow was on that list. He is a top 100 prospect and IU is already after him hard. Being a local prospect, it's likely he would go IU. The OP list has him listed in the 70s.

I would be beyond shocked. There is no way he is coming to Purdue.

Romeo Langford isn't a typical college basketball recruit. He's thoughtful and wise for his age. His standards for choosing an education will be different than most.

When asked privately, he will tell you Purdue is one of his favorites. I know he and Ryan Cline are friends and Purdue was one of the first to pursue him.

Purdue would certainly be in his top 3. My guess is 1 or 2.

We have been in the top three a lot this round of recruiting. That doesn't help us much. He will not be coming to Purdue. He is a one and done and Duke can also offer a solid education so that isn't going to put Purdue over the top on this one.

If you're right, he won't be choosing Louisville!

It's funny that those close to him say Purdue is a real possibility, but you apparently are such an insider that you know it isn't. I agree that Duke is the co-frontrunner.

Sounds a lot like Jaren Jackson Jr. #whiff

God I hope your sources are right!
How are Cline and him friends? Way different ages.

Painters gotta hit on 2018! The 2017 class is has me wondering...who??? things can always change tho!

I'm not familiar with the AAU circuit. But, similar to 2007 SYF Players/Baby Boilers is there a team out there that Painter could target with all these 2018 schollies and entice with the amount of immediate playing time available?

Ryan Cline is the nephew of New Albany coach Jim Shannon. Spent a couple summers together quite a bit.
I did not know that ( in my best Jimmy Carson voice). Do you have any idea when he will verbally commit to a school? Does he want this process to play out for literally years? Thanks.

Either I am mis reading your post or you are missing;

just had rivals offer list, wonder why they differ

78- Harris - 247

38 - Jones - Johns? espn only?
NR - Dowuona - 247

I concur. Of course we want him to be a Boilermaker, but it would be more shocking than the Cubs winning the World Series if it happens.

Pssht.....law of averages is on our side. Plus the jump from a Swanigan to a Langford is much smaller than the jump from our normal 3.5 star recruit to a Swanigan.

The mental game is half the battle. If you don't have that, you already lost

What we really, really, need is a very deep tourney run.

This season and next season would be our best chances of getting there.....comparable to the Baby Boilers and the Cardinal teams

One thing I wish some people on this board would quit doing is saying "He won't be coming to Purdue, he is going to Duke , Kentucky or Kansas"! So Purdue doesn't get every recruit they go after, no team does. By the way , Purdue has had a lot of good basketball teams, and is a good school for a player to play for and get a good education. I feel better now, carry on.
