Going back to your link. I think one has to wonder what the Middle East might look like today (esp. Kurdistan) had the Brits and the French not divided up the ME upon purely subjective and colonial aspirations. The ME seemed to be like what we had in North America 500 years ago where native tribes ruled their respective territories, and left to their own initiatives, one has to wonder what might have transpired.
