My Dad was just talking about playing golf with George King a few days after the NCAA ... interesting stories... too long for posting here. He played a lot of golf with King and they usually collected money at the end.
One of the stories was about some guy running up to King on the course and asking if Mount shot too much in the final game ... King said Hell no you idiot. Every shot hit the rim .... or something to that affect.
Just picking nits, but does the fact that “every shot hit the rim” make it a good shot?
Don't shoot the messenger. I think the point was how King handled the questioner. ANd that comment was with some disdain.
How was it a disaster??? The crowd gave the guy a long ovation! Anytime Mount is in Mackey is great for Purdue
Leading by a bunch over Iowa at halftime on an almost flawless first half.
Halftime festivities - very lively, lots of enthusiasm and cheering.
Lay an egg second half and Iowa wins the game.
So we lost a game. Not the first time, not the last. Sometimes you have to stop and smell the roses. I bet not many Yankee fans dwell on the outcome of the game the day they said goodbye to Gehrig.
