Heaven forbid I answer questions with what is actually happening vs. conspiracy theories and political nonsense! I was responding to someone asking about other fall sports that the NCAA championships for those have been postponed already. And another person wondering why there weren't bye...

I mean, playing 4 home games from the second half of October through November is not necessarily something that couldn't happen in a regular season - plus there's no "wear" on the grass until then. Last year, Purdue had 3 home games from Oct. 26 - Nov 30. Not ideal, but not sure it's dire.

The SEC lost a lot of their best players....

The NCAA has postponed fall sports championships (the NCAA doesn't control football). I know like ACC soccer is still playing in the fall, but the Big East is postponed til spring. I'm not sure the point of playing a fall season when the championship is in the spring...but I'm not well versed...

    Can't trust Twitter...is B1G Football is back?

What exactly was there to say? Their news release when they postponed outlined what they needed to do to get back on the field...are they supposed to give daily briefings that don't actually tell you anything? At the end of the day, there were a lot of Presidents to convince to switch to...

Why so negative!?? The Big Ten is playing a season and will be able to compete for everything else the SEC, ACC, Big 12 is. Looks like you'd rather be right than be happy they found a way to get back on the field!

The thought is daily rapid testing should mitigate mass outbreaks on a team that leads to postponed games. Keep in mind other conferences are using PCR tests that require going off to a lab still, not rapid tests - and less than every other day.

Read the initial announcement about postponing the season. Literally everything spelled out in that release is what has been happening. They never said they weren't playing until January or we're just gonna sit on our hands for a few months and not try to get back on the field. A lot of people...

This is a bit dramatic.... He's not going to sit there and give updates to all the coaches when the coaches are running to the media if it's not what they want to hear. This decision - by the Presidents, NOT Warren, for the 100th time - should not be played out in public. You're trying to...

Does scheduling need to be done years in advance?

We have gone from scheduling a few years out 10-15 years ago, to scheduling what seems 5-7+ years out in football. This obviously limits the ability to build a non-conference schedule around your team, as you often see with basketball schedules. With COVID, there's been a necessity to make...

This is a great post for the General Discussion forum. We finally started getting away from political crap on this board.

Are they practicing in person and working out with their coaches? Like I said, you can see the differences with many teams so far not having a traditional lead up to football. To say it literally has no effect on a team to have no team workouts/practices for 2 weeks - is a bit of a stretch...

The entire campus is in quarantine. They aren't out on the quad running captains practices. Sure, they can do some work outs and stuff on their own...but that's simply not the same as teams practicing and doing workouts with coaches and staff.

Got it, thanks. 3 weeks after 2 weeks of doing nothing seems a bit rosy. But watching college football...a lot of teams don't look ready.

Although I will point out that he signed a contract extension with the Redskins. If you want to win, that wasn't the right move.

    Can't trust Twitter...is B1G Football is back?

It was announced as a postponement of the season, not cancelation, and the Big Ten's release said it would continue to evaluate options for a season, monitor developments, see what emerging technology is developed, etc. Just because some college football talking heads ran with their...

    Scholarship limits 2021, 2022, 2023...

I don't know the details - but I'd imagine you have to file some sort of paperwork about basically "withdrawing" from the year - it's like taking a gap year and I don't think they can participate in workouts, conditioning, practice, etc. (which is obviously still taking place). What you quoted...

They obviously have been doing a lot of work behind the scenes and they want their next announcement to be what the actual next step is. It's also a fluid situation. A number of Big Ten teams have had issues over the past couple of weeks - Barry Alvarez is saying their team could be ready in 3...

    Ryan Kerrigan

I feel bad for him. At Purdue, he was a part of 1 winning team - as a freshman when they went to the Motor City Bowl. And he's been with the hapless Redskins his whole NFL career - 2 winning years in 10 seasons. Individually, he's accomplished so much but has never really been on a good team...

    Scholarship limits 2021, 2022, 2023...

It's the right move, but a mess to sort out. Obviously people can change their minds at any time, and transferring will happen a lot especially considering a number of schools will not likely offer the extra scholarships. Keep in mind schools do not have to honor the 5th year - it's a big extra...
