    AZ in Vegas: out.

I'd heard some noise that part of the reason AZ dropped was they're not sure what their roster will look like. If so, that shows a lot of respect for Purdue, i.e. not wanting to get blasted if their roster doesn't come together, particularly by a team in a conference that destroyed the Pac-12.

12-8 and one game ahead of the team that finished in 8th place

    2024 - 2025 Big Ten Coaching Rankings

That's why I asked about the criteria. Most 'top coaches' lists you see published are based on career achievements, which IMO is deeply flawed. BTW, Collings is a complete douche 🤣

    Depends on how you measure.

Painter will never get Purdue to the FF.

If BSmith is in contention for BTPOY Purdue will be very, very good. If you look at the 2019 MSU team that won the B10 and made the FF, they had some good players but Winston was the only superstar. If BSmith plays at that level I think the rest of our roster can hang with that MSU squad.

Painter will never get Purdue to the FF.

The dead horse beating after losing to FDU lasted for at least 9 months.

Painter will never get Purdue to the FF.

I would take a three seed for the coming season in a heartbeat.

Painter will never get Purdue to the FF.

It’s clearly not beneath me, though I can understand why some would resent having this recirculated. No shame in being wrong but there are some embarrassing hot takes in the thread.

    Very interesting comment regarding Berg.

    Cleansing of souls

Agree on approach. IMO it will depend on how he shoots it and where he's playing. Agree that they won't be running stuff for him on the outside but 1) I don't think it's outlandish to think that he could potentially shoot in the high 30's if he's getting open looks and 2) getting more than one...

Certainly fewer than 100 attempts on the year, maybe 50?

How are we getting to 13 Scholarships

This is the same argument that Wol has been making for at least five years. He conveniently ignores examples where redshirting has helped Purdue. Completely in character for him to suggest that Mason taking his COVID year elsewhere after playing his RS senior year at Purdue as an example of why...

Painter has built us into a DYNASTY in the BIG can he do it NATIONALLY

The money has always been there, it's just legal now. You're right in that the kids who were getting bags before are still going to follow the money now. Those kids were never coming to Purdue regardless of NIL. I'm sure that the number of kids for whom a payday is the top priority has expanded...

Painter has built us into a DYNASTY in the BIG can he do it NATIONALLY

Football and basketball are completely different when it comes to team building.

Painter has built us into a DYNASTY in the BIG can he do it NATIONALLY

Yup, that’s not how UConn or Purdue play it with hs guys. Value to be had for those players outside of $$$. Have to find the right kids.

Painter has built us into a DYNASTY in the BIG can he do it NATIONALLY

Nah, the winning model is UConn, not IU. Combination of hs recruiting and development of guys who want to stick around supplemented with robust NIL budget to very selectively add guys. The arms race approach doesn't work

    May 1 is looming

Agree that it seems unlikely that he'll break into the rotation, but maybe worth it if you're BW to give it one more shot. If that doesn't happen then a year from now I assume he'll have his Purdue degree and then he can decide if he wants to ride the bench for what could be an elite team or...

    Kansas still adding!

completely agree .The only caveat I’d add to that is that if you have a strong returning core and a good culture you want to do everything you can not to add a team killer. That includes vetting the player, but it also includes not promising anything to those portal recruits in terms of playing...
