And Newman stayed 3 years after his redshirt year. He obviously wasn't overly upset by redshirting. So yeah, strange to include him in the discussion.

Link for? I added Smith to JRKinn's list of Colvin, Catchings, and TKR having NBA potential. Addendum: Although this was my opinion, at the time I was thinking about the following statement previously posted by oldboiler52 in response to someone stating that Smith will be here 4 years: "No...

Interior Defense is a concern without Zach

Haarms did not play at a JC. He played at a prep school. Nice research. Reposting opinions on this board is not research. And no one else has said Painter first saw all of these players on the international circuit. You stated it as fact, with no source, and contradicted by legitimate sources.

Maybe do the research before you just make a bunch of stuff up about how Painter finds players. Portraying yourself as someone in the know, when you are just inventing it in your own head, is not useful to people genuinely interested in Purdue recruiting.

OT: Sports writer's opinion of "Top 10" programs.....

Reinforces the image that IU is a party school. The writer definitley partook in some mind-altering substances.

I keep wondering the same thing. With the portal pulling players from teams, it may even make sense. I have not seen a big push in the media to increase the number, but it may be happening. The downside is that it would make NIL even more difficult to manage. More slices of the pie.

Smith is also on that list of potential NBA players.

Of course he played in Europe. He lived most of his life there. The posts were about him getting clearance from the NCAA to compete in college because he had received money to play. And the fact that the NCAA limited his eligibility, so it affected his enrollment date.

I wonder the same thing. More guys sitting on the bench and more guys in the portal at the end of the season. The plus side is you have a bigger pool of talent to work into your 8 or 9 player rotation and more talent challenging them in practice. I don't know the right answer.

Injuries and future player development are 2 good reasons. Edit: I typed the above before seeing seeing RDUBoiler's post. Foul troubles are a 3rd reason.

Painter saw Haarms at his prep school in Kansas. Berg's father approached Painter to get his son on the team. There is no record of Edey playing in international competition prior to Painter showing interest. Purdue has previously recruited players in Canada, so Painter is familiar with...

You are correct. Walk-ons can receive NIL $$. It's just a matter of time before a school legally uses this to get around the scholarship limit.

Does Loyer start for next year's team?

Painter doesn't like to change line-ups unless the team loses. After this record-breaking year for wins, I expect he'll have more opportunities to experiment.

Does Loyer start for next year's team?

I'll just point out that the Arizona and Tennessee game disproves this. Going into those games, some people were were saying the same things. I agree with most of the rest of this post.

Interior Defense is a concern without Zach

My take: Purdue has had excellent defensive teams before Edey. We'll have excellent defensive teams after him. What we saw was Painter adjusting the team's play to the personnel. We will continue to see that.

Does Loyer start for next year's team?

Yep. He definitely added muscle and got stronger. Most players do. Even Trevion (you mentioned above) lost weight but gained muscle. Takes a lot of work in the off-season, and if Loyer didn't get the message after his freshman year, I'm certain he got it this year. Everyone is debating whether...
