Big Ten

Not sure I'd put too much faith in DJ being that big of an impact player next year. He's a lightweight big coming off a major leg injury with minimal college experience. Obviously hope I'm wrong, but I would temper expectations for him.
I would hope he’s stronger after a year in the program. He could be a “freshman clingan” type where he doesn’t dominate offensively but is a force down low on the defensive side for 18-25 mins a game.

Nailed it. You don't have to run actions for your 4th and 5th option, there just needs to be a counter when defenses scheme to take away your primary action (back door cuts, open threes, etc.) and your secondary players need to execute.
Ok this is a doomsday comment but we don’t think Smith leaves after this year to go chase NIL somewhere else, right?

Our problem is when it's Smith, Loyer, Heide and Colvin on the floor, you have 4 jump shooters. Only Smith has proven his ability to either create or get his own shot (with some limited success but struggles against bigger defenders), which means you have 3 other guys hoping to get an open look. When the shots aren't falling, you need to find other ways to get buckets and we don't have that.
100% agree. Was just saying that Heide and Colvin as 4th and 5th options don’t get anything run for them and I don’t think they are “allowed” to go create (even if they can’t).

We need.......................

While I agree. Step back and think what that means. Offense would need to either be run for the 4th option OR they hit shots. So, if Colvin or Heide or cox can hit a few shots, then it’s all good. If one of them had hit a few shots these past few games, then we wouldn’t be as worried.

I think law of averages comes into play here and shots start to go down.

Purdue at Minnesota: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

If we seriously think we can contend for title, you have to win this game. Minny on of 2 worst teams in conference , so need to get this road win.
Completely agree. I keep repeating myself but these next five games are 'can't lose' contests. It would be understandable to slip up and drop one of these but if this team goes 3-2 in the softest part of their conference schedule they really put themselves in a hole.

IU did not deserve to be in CFP. Great article by USA Today

Yea that is what I mean. There are also fewer teams so smaller sample size might be OK as long as quads are adjusted accordingly. I do agree indiana likely would still have made it. But it would effectively address the schedule or at least optics of it.

Bottom line is indiana really did fans and college football a disservice when it cancelled its game against Louisville. This debate about indiana wouldn’t be happening if they had not done this. There is precedent for “punishing” teams for bad schedules (TCU, Ball State, Florida State, etc) but we should be rewarding schools for playing good teams. Indiana getting in sends a horrible message that the pathway to the playoffs is easiest if you schedule cupcakes. I would rather incentivize teams into scheduling exciting non-conf games.
Yes IU had a totally PUD schedule. New recipe for getting in the playoffs. Didn't do them much good though. They still got smashed when it counted.

Herschel Walker: Ambassador to the Bahamas

Really? How is the general population only 13% black but the NBA is 80%?
This is one of your most intellectually insufficient arguments that you have made in the forum and you have made some whoppers. 80% black NBA participation just means that more blacks play basketball. Almost 100% of the NBA majority owners are white. No one is preventing white ball players to play in the NBA. And y'all call me a race baiter.

Daniel Penny, American Hero.

Now you see.

He should have plenty of cash to pay for his lawyers after winning his lawsuits against the Biden and the media. I think you said he was gonna be able to buy an island with all the money he received from the defamation suits lol.
LOL! You still on the Rittenhouse crusade? Obviously you've given up on Trump ever spending any time in prison? Let me guess, Danny Penny is next?

As for Rittenhouse, sounds like his disgruntled former employee is engaging in a little bit of old school extortion?

Of the guys who attacked Rittenhouse and were taken out, was this the child molester's dad who is trying to bring a lawsuit? Or was it the guy armed (who Rittenhouse 'disarmed', literally) with a gun?
Either way, Rittenhouse is guilty only of self defense. He's an American Hero.

Big Ten

Yes Jacobsen back will be huge - TKR back at the 4 - but we are gonna need some depth at the 4 and 5. Berg and Burgess? Maybe but we will know more in 3 months based on how they develop.

2024-25 Purdue Transfer THREAD

I’m referring to the overall portal picture not just the Purdue guys. 2/3 of everyone who entered this year have found a home.
I think it’s all based off timing and talent. If you entered early in the process and you have any kind of experience/talent you’re going to get overreacted like crazy and find a new home quickly when rosters have empty spots to fill. If you are highly talented it’s all the same things but with lots of money involved. When the markets hot it’s Hot! And when it’s cold it’s cold and that’s when kids are left behind signing with lower level schools. But yes there is plenty of talent left in the portal but you definitely have to do your homework to sort through all the bs.

Big Ten

We’ve played the #1, 9, 10, 11, 20, 30 and 34 ranked teams in Kenpom already before the New Year. We have the 6th hardest schedule so far in the country. Do we have issues - definitely. Are we prepped to win the Big Ten - 100%. I have enjoyed watching this team so far - lot of ups and downs but sometimes those teams are the most fun to watch. Are we winning it all this year - no - but we are really setting a foundation for next year. Get our center back, grab one or two play makers in the portal and look out! Happy New Year!
Getting at least 2 guys from the portal for next year is the key. Need guys with good handles who can get their own shot or at least create off the bounce to get the defense into rotations.
