Sigh

Harris?? LOL.
After her many word salads and meaningless babbles, you might be the the only NON far left DEM to think that. Thanks for the laugh.
🤣🤣
Harris on policy or waffling on committing to policies? Not good.

But the 'word salad' narrative on Harris is pure myth. She is out in public speaking all of the time and for the vast majority of the time she is quite good at it. Vance is excellent at it. Walz is fine; not as good as Vance or Harris, but fine. Trump is a complete disaster.

Some out of context sound bites in a lifetime of public speaking are destined to be less than optimum.
For instance;
  • Vance made that "childless cat ladies" snarky comment in front of a partisan audience a few years ago. So what. It just doesn't matter and isn't a derogatory reflection on his ability to communicate well.
  • Similarly, last night Walz was speaking too quickly and said "I've become friends with school shooters" when he clearly meant that he's become friends with families of school shooters. So what. It just doesn't matter.
What bothers me is when a candidate is clearly compromised in their ability to communicate well enough to be a leader (Biden), or when a candidate's deliberate, repeated words are the antithesis of good leadership qualities (Trump).

And please don't merely respond to this post with a laugh emoji if you disagree -- say so and say why; if you are a fan of effective communication show some yourself.

Purdue lands 2025 guard Antione West Jr.

I'm not sure what is up but Tre Singleton tweeted out photos of himself in Purdue uniform with the caption Boiler up and a set of eyes late last night. I just retweeted it one of you guy's please post it. Seems like we might get the big prize Painter has sought. If you think I am big on Jack you haven't seen nothing yet LOL!

Saw that somewhere on here. Looks promising. Sounds like you might like this guy a little bit. LOL

Just so we are clear, if they fire Walters tomorrow I could care less. He would go in with Fred Akers.

I wanted him to do well because I think a lot of people probably hung up on Bobinski once NIL was mobilized. But the book is the book. Unlike a lot of people, I can criticize a coach I like or praise one I don’t.

Walters hired Harrell. The buck stops with the head coach. If he runs out of time to right the ship because he trusted a bad coach, that’s on him.

Unlike a lot of people who, if they like a coach, will make excuses for any and everything about him.

Take tiller. He wasn’t perfect. The pitchforks were out at the end. He had 4 key things going for him though…

1. Innovative offense at the right time in the right place

2. A great staff he put together over years. Dale Williams could have barely been an analyst

3. Saavy player personnel guy from his CFL days

4. The last coach at Purdue where, if you messed up.. stupid penalty, key blown play, you were going to run. At 5 am.
No one was saying Brohm was Tiller, Mollenkopf, or Young.

Some of us were just saying that he was a competent head coach, and blaming him for Walter’s obvious incompetence was ridiculous.

Who signs with Purdue this fall?

Up next?!? Don’t know where we stand but would be a nice piece to add

I wonder if this is in response to what SWA posted the night before about his visit and rumors that Kansas is out on him making Purdue a landing spot of increased likelihood? I take this as a sign that he is leaning toward Purdue and we could see him commit soon if he’s picking Purdue to get ahead of SWA.?. I also may be completely off base and reading too much into this.
I am really high on Singleton and as I have said a few times think he’s the better get between him and Sisley.
If he commits before SWA is ready to make his decision but both choose Purdue I can’t imagine that Paint would not take both of them. If both leaning Purdue, this could become a race to be the first to commit! 🤔🤷🏼‍♂️

Sigh

That's politics and politicians. When has a pol not reversed course when it served their best interests or those of their constituents. Both sides do it. Sort of like all the people defending Biden's mental acuity, that is, until the day he dropped out.
We're not talking about a policy reversal here. This is a man who completely compromised his beliefs for political opportunity. But character, judgement, and self discipline don't matter to you so your position is not surprising.

I'll give a few receipts, not that you'll stop using a false equivalency.

"I think that I’m going to vote third party because I can’t stomach Trump,” he told Terry Gross. “I think that he’s noxious and is leading the white working class to a very dark place.”

Fellow Christians, everyone is watching us when we apologize for this man. Lord help us,” Vance tweeted.

Two days later, he added, “Trump makes people I care about afraid. Immigrants, Muslims, etc. Because of this I find him reprehensible. God wants better of us.”

The following March, he said in another tweet, “In 4 years, I hope people remember that it was those of us who empathized with Trump’s voters who fought him the most aggressively.”

I’m a Never-Trump guy,” Vance told Charlie Rose in an interview just a few short weeks before Trump was elected president. “I never liked him.”

I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he’s America’s Hitler,” Vance texted Josh McLaurin. “How’s that for discouraging?”

You're another one of those hypocrites that bitches about politicians' behavior but keeps re-electing them because they give you what you want.

I find the vitriol on Walters a little odd

Hopefully somebody better than Walters. If not, you move on and try again.

Your premise is that this is a good coach and no talent on this team? I think you’re very incorrect here.

We should try to be competitive instead of letting the program circle the drain with a bad coach. It’s not a talent issue. It’s a scheme, fundamentals and coaching issue. We of course have talent limitations but we also have a coach who has done nothing in 16 games to bridge that gap.
No. My premise is that this is a coach I like for having the balls to take this job when many coaches likely hung up the phone. He wasn’t ready. Bobinski also didn’t demand he have older former head coaches on staff or someone who had called a college offense other than Harrell? He hired the wrong OC which is on him.

If some g5 up and cover had come here, said coach would have also been hampered by brohm doing a piss poor job with several units and really no longer recruiting after 19.

There is little talent on this team team that isn’t 19 or 18. Like Tom said when pressed by Brian (which transfers are actually good) “really just Reggie love.”

Had a top g5 guy taken the job, had Walters hired an average OC or had Jeff brohm left behind anything resembling the roster Joe tiller put together after 6 years, Purdue is probably 7-6 last year and 2-3 now.

If they fire Walters tomorrow I could care less dude

100%

Vance spent most of last night doing an excellent lawyerly job of glossing over what Trump has said and done and immediately pivoting to a vision of Trump that doesn't exist. Vance is smart and was good at it.

Walz doesn't have that background. He was fine, but Vance (and Harris) have the ability to choose words carefully in a real-time, active presentation in a way that a Walz (and Trump) don't have.

Walters

I know a lot of people on here compare Walters to Hazell, which is justified given the record and performance to date. With that said, I find Coach Walters infinitely more likable, humble, and someone that I genuinely want to do well here.

I abandoned Hazell about 3 games into his tenure, but if Walters can hold this team and his recruiting class together after the abysmal start to this season, I think he deserves our support. His defense is showing clear improvement and he is now making obvious effort to repair the inept offense that has held him back since he got here. He also appears to be more disappointed than any of us with the results on the field, which tells me he cares about what is happening here vs. just cashing a check.

So far, I think his biggest mistake has been in trusting the wrong person with his Offense whilst having an unforgiving schedule. Although obvious self-preservation, I think pulling the trigger on Harrell is more than just a symbolic act and and actually gives Walters a chance to rebound. Hopefully he course corrected before it's too late.

Boiler up!

Humble?? This is the same guy that called himself the best DC in the country. The same guy that wears shirts about 2 sizes too small to show off his biceps.

He's in over his head and the problem lies with the fact that he couldn't see that until he got beatdown the last 3 games because of his arrogance.

Sigh

No, not like that at all. This is Lindsey Graham and Marco Rubio kinds of reversals. The ones you prefer to ignore.

Braden Smith named B1G Preseason POY

Great Osobor, will not be on this list at the end of the year. Also think it will be Freeman from Iowa instead of Sanndfort and Ballo won’t be the top center in the big! My opinion for what that’s worth

My thoughts exactly on Iowa/Freeman - but Sandfort will put up big numbers due to how Iowa plays. I think it will end up being pretty hard to leave him off, numbers-wise.

Braden Smith named B1G Preseason POY

I'm a bit surprised that others think that highly of Braden.
I think he'll be even more impressive this year with the freedom to spread the ball around within the flow of the game rather than slowing it down to pass into double teamed Zach.
And passing to guys that know they now have the opportunities if they move and get open.
it's BIG fun to play with a first class ball distributor.
And amazingly motivating to get your butt open.
He'll score more, but I'd put a goal of 10 assists per game on him, and and expect him to have a few games with 15.
Those are crazy numbers for a college pg.
I think he comes close at worst.
He’s the only returning first team all B1G from last year and is on pace to break the assist record in the conference…and he’s on a team that knows how to utilize his skills (elite passing, very good shooting) so I’m guessing that’s why he’s looked at that way by others in the press/coaches.

Sigh

ha ha.. Bob, do you have VDS now?
You talk about Vance reversing his opinion on Trump. Is that similar to Harris now winning a single delegate in the primaries but as soon as she's the undemocratically appointed nominee, she's hailed as the next Obama?
No, not like that at all. This is Lindsey Graham and Marco Rubio kinds of reversals. The ones you prefer to ignore.

We all wanted Walters to do well. When it was obvious he had no clue and was in over his head we wanted to move on. It’s not any more complex than that.

It’s a losers mentality to think we can’t and shouldn’t do better.

I think we could pretty easily do better. And in this $$$ era of CFB we can pay a guy whatever he wants to stay if he is successful.

I find the vitriol on Walters a little odd

The hope team that lost to 4-8 rice and barely beat middle Tennessee? Cause they lost to ND by a lot in the NIL era and got beat by 18 by a traditional blue blood program that can now legally buy players?

Who do you think we are getting when Walters goes? How many games do you think said coach is going to win in each of his first two years? These questions assume there is no revenue sharing. If there was, Walters never would have sniffed this job
Hopefully somebody better than Walters. If not, you move on and try again.

Just like a year ago, Anyone who recognizes that Brohm is a competent HC, and that Walters isn’t, gets labeled a Brohm-Lover.
Of course Walters hasn’t been good. But then brohm Bryant fans start acting like brohm was Joe tiller. You can say Walters is on his way to being fired while recognizing that brohm falls way way way short of a coach like tiller.

And that was going to impact a coach who is much better if he didn’t hang up on bobo like many probably did.

After year 6, here was tillers starting lineup when they broke camp

Orton
Harris, void
Davis
Stubblefield
Standeford
Williams
Otto
Turner
Hardwick
Moore
Butler

Nesfield
Grover
Terrill
Phillips
Johnson
Koutouvides
Gardner
Rogers
Pollard
Schweigert
Reeves

Where is the weak starter? (There isn’t one). How many players from the team the day after the bowl (6 years in) could start above?

Walters can be well on his way to being canned without people being unrealistic about Jeff brohm. Who was no Joe tiller, Jim young or Jack mollenkopf. He was 2 games over .500 in 6 years. For perspective, Big Dan the rent man lost about 1 more game in every 20

One Really Violent Day

Wait, you mean people who work for the Catholic Church abuse kids? I'm shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you!
Let me guess... You asked your children if they felt like a boy or a girl?
Are you encouraging your kids to major in gender studies?

Yeh, Catholic school instill discipline. You learn quickly where the boundaries are. I sorry that you were brought up believing that reasoning with children is how you change behavior (it's not).

I maintained that no one got worse

You said they shouldn’t cause they got older. “He was a freshman, now he’s a junior.”

I showed you examples of junior linemen grading worse than Moussa and not getting better.

Now you want to talk about scheme.

The scheme sucked. Harrell got fired. Walters may be fired for hiring Harrell.

You still think brohm is Bear Bryant lol.
